PixelChooser with Academy Award-Winning Mocha Planar Tracking and Masking
Use the integrated two stage matte keyer to help isolate skin tones from the surrounding areas of the shot, which makes it possible for the filter to easily smooth out unwanted blemishes, freckles, wrinkles, visible pores etc without affecting other parts of the image. This means that we can retain image sharpness where it matters, in hair, eyes, lips and other non-skin regions which makes for a natural looking finished result. Also included in the PixelChooser system is the Mocha masking and planar tracking system. Use the toolset that is used by the highest level of VFX compositors in the industry right within the Beauty Studio filter to help isolate skin tones from the rest of the shot.

Mocha Masking and Tracking
Continuum includes the Academy Award winning Mocha application, which is a part of the PixelChooser matte and masking system. The power of having these tools built right into the filter cannot be overstated - an unlimited number of easy to use B spline shapes can be generated to isolate the filter to operate only on specific parts of the image. And all of the shapes that are created in Mocha can be linked and tracked using the built-in Mocha planar tracking system making the Continuum Beauty Studio filter the best solution for skin smoothing in any supported host or platform.

Integrated Compare Mode
The inclusion of the Continuum Compare Mode means that we can work on smoothing the image while viewing the original source shot. In side by side mode, the Compare Mode displays the original source on the left side of the frame with the filtered result on the right side. When using the split mode, a vertical bar can be set using the on-screen overlays so that we see a split of a single image, with the left section of the wipe displaying the original source shot while the area to the right of the wipe bar displays the filtered result.

Unique Multi-Pass Image Smoothing
One of the defining features of the Beauty Studio filter is that it is based on a multi-pass image smoothing user interface. Users have direct control over the level of smoothing that is being applied to the image based on the size of the blemish that needs to be removed from the source shot. If we simply apply a standard blur to the shot, all areas are blurred uniformly, which yields a result that looks like it was blurred but with the Beauty Studio multi-pass approach, the result looks totally natural as smaller pores are treated differently than larger, more visible pores.

Image Sharpening
To ensure that the image maintains a natural look, we added a sharpen option to the filter. This user definable sharpen option means that we can bring back some of the detail that is removed during the smoothing pass to make the image appear as though it was never smoothed or retouched.

Color Correction
A suite of color correction tools have also been included in the Beauty Studiofilter. This means that you can use the same matte and masking that was set up for the smoothing and sharpening passes to contain the color correction pass to just the skin tone. The hue, saturation and luminance of the skin tone can be fine tuned to just the right levels to ensure that the finished result is clean and free of blemishes and color balanced.

Film Glow
Where would a beauty shot be without a nice soft glow? Professional photographers, videographers and film makers typically use a soft light box to add some glow to the shot, which gives skin tones that illustrious glow. The integrated glow option enables this to happen as a post process. The amount of glow as well as the glow tint can be controlled by the user to generate that perfect radiant skin tone

Blending Option
Once the beauty treatment is complete, there are times when you might want to back off some of the total correction that is being applied to the skin and to aid in this regard, the Beauty Studio filter includes the ability to blend the beauty treatment back with the original source shot to generate a perfect and totally believable result.

On Screen Controls (HUD)
While working on the image, it’s important to be able to keep your eyes focused on the image that is being worked on, just as a beauty stylist does when applying real-world make-up to the skin of a real person. Like many filters in the Continuum product line, Beauty Studio includes on-screen controls that can be enabled or disabled via a handy HUD (Heads-Up Display) button in the effects control panel. This means that you can remain focused on the image result while increasing or decreasing the level of smoothing that is being applied to the source shot.
